Philippe Cordonnier, a passionate winemaker in Burgundy – Côte de Nuits
Exceptional Burgundy wines to enjoy at Aux 20 Plaisirs or to take away from the cellar side
Based in Corgoloin, in the heart of the prestigious Côte de Nuits, Philippe Cordonnier is one of those rare winemakers whose journey inspires as much as the wines delight.
Unlike many estates, Philippe does not come from a family of winemakers. It was during a placement in the vineyards that he discovered the world of wine… and immediately fell in love with this demanding profession. He honed his expertise within a renowned Burgundy estate, before embarking on his own adventure.
An atypical and committed journey in Burgundy
He started out on 2 hectares, thanks to a plot taken on lease (rental of winegrowing land).
From 2015: Philippe took over plots left fallow and replanted 55,000 vines over 5 hectares of vineyards, starting almost from a blank page. Some plots now contain century-old vines, true treasures of Burgundy’s winegrowing heritage. Work and improvements were also undertaken in the winery.
In the Côtes de Nuits and Côtes de Beaune, there are only 2 or 3 winemakers who have started from scratch, which makes his journey all the more remarkable.
Winegrowing that respects living things
At Philippe Cordonnier’s, the philosophy is clear: prioritise quality over quantity.
- Certified in Organic Agriculture
- Vineyard work without chemical fertilisers
- Natural inputs only
- Organic vinification, with indigenous yeasts
- Total respect for nature’s rhythm
«Do less, but better» and «nature decides» Philippe confides.
Yields can be lower in some years, depending on climatic conditions, but the winemaker remains true to his values and his passion.
90 % of his production is intended for French customers.
A craft winemaker, from vine to bottle
Philippe Cordonnier carries out all the work himself:
- vine growing
- vinification
- ageing
- bottling
Each cuvée precisely expresses the identity of its terroir. This meticulous work requires patience, high standards and expertise… for the greatest pleasure of your taste buds.
An exemplary environmental approach
The commitment goes even further with:
- a new building equipped with solar panels
- an almost self-sufficient operation
- rainwater harvesting
A sustainable and coherent approach, in perfect harmony with his vision of wine.
