On the hillsides of the South-West, in Aydie, Pierre-Michel Beheïty runs Domaine Damiens, a family-run vineyard for three generations. His approach is clear: cultivate the vines with moderation and respect, without compromising on quality, and now with organic farming. He says that «the vine reveals its truth when it is listened to patiently».
The estate focuses on the emblematic Madiran grape variety - Tannat - combined with Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, and works the south-east-facing gravelly-siliceous terroirs, which provide structure, depth and finesse. Pierre-Michel's wines are characterised by controlled power, ripe fruit and assertive elegance. They are as much designed for today as they are for ageing well, reflecting a deep-seated commitment.
